Embracing wallpaper in a family home

I love it when a client says they want to transform their plain white walls with colour, but it’s a rarity that I can convince them to introduce not just one, but two different highly patterned wallpapers full of colour into their home.

But the key thing here was to subdue, or knock back, the busyness of the wallpapers a little to ensure the rooms could also feel grounded and calm when necessary.

Hence the soft grey and cream of the bed and the olive green walls next to the wallpaper in the sitting room.

Too much pattern and colour in a room can feel overwhelming, so it’s always important to balance it with other colours that will soften or pare back the effect a little. This way we can create interiors that feel both creative & energising, whilst also enabling us to be able to relax within them. The perfect combination.
